PLN of Choice
For my article I did “FDR’s First 100 Days in Office” by the Boston Globe. Although this is an extremely old article, and may seem irrelevant, I found it to be very historic considering the fact that several days ago we had the 1st black president inaugurated into office. And like FDR in 1933 President Obama is faced with an extreme challenge: to fix this country’s economic crisis. This matters to me because like a lot of other middle class citizens my parents are affected by the crisis that is currently happening in the U.S., and like Franklin Delano Roosevelt did throughout his three terms, Barack Obama needs to fix this country’s worsening economy before it’s too late and were in a depression.
Lost Generation
In class we watched a YouTube video called “Lost Generation” In this video it had a girl saying negative things then rewound the video and it turned out to be that she was saying things that all of us should be thinking. This video really matters to me because we all need to change the world to become a better world so we can thrive In years to come. I think this video symbolizes many things but the one thing I think me and my peers got out of watching it was that when times are bad we need to come together to change the world. And we can all do this by one simple act of kindness.

I Remember When
In the commercial we watched on Friday it talked about how everything that was once
"new" and "hip" is now outdated and there is probably something better then it. I think this says a lot about society today in the sense that a computer was once the greatest invention ever, now we have computers the size of our hands. I remember when we wanted to get on the computer, someone would have to be off the phone. I also remember when the world was introduced to music on an ipod instead of a CD. I think the inventions of yesterday explain an enormous amount about how were living now in 2009.

3 Item Intro
Ethan’s 3 Item Intro
Item one: My Marine Corps Flag. This item is very near and dear to my heart. I have it in my room because my dad served in the USMC from 1968-1971. This flag makes me proud to be an American, and it makes me know that I’m a lucky kid, who is very blessed.
Item two: My Remington 870 express pump. This would be my gun. I recently got it and I love it. I am an avid hunter, and mainly hunt water-fowl. This gun is so great, the reason it is very special is because my Dad bought it for me and that makes it 10 times greater because I don’t see him to much.
Item three: My ranch “cowboy” boots. These boots were hand-me-downs from my dad when he was about my age. I’ve been wearing them ever since my feet have been able to fit into them. I wear them when I go to see my horse Jackson, and when I go to the stock-show and other events that have to do with ranching etc…

PLN 10
In the article “Board votes to close two elementary schools” it talks about closing down Louis Ames Elementary School, and Walt Whitman Elementary School. This matters to me because I have two cousins who go to Louis Ames. Although the district needs to do this for financial reasons, I think it will take a toll on the parents of students who go to these two schools. I think a good solution to these closures is talking it out with the school board and the parents to agree on something that will be convenient and money saving.
PLN 9
In my article “Obama: Economy the greatest challenge” it talks about how President-Elect Barack Obama is going to change this nations economic crisis. This is important to me and others around me because right now our country is in a recession, and not only is it affecting the adults, but it’s affecting the youth of today who are going to have to clean up after these irresponsible bankers and politicians. I think to fix this we need to stop giving people money who don’t need it, and we need to restrict the CEO’s of the banks from going on lavish retreats while the rest of the country sits and watches our countries fall into a depression.
